Payment of Filing Fees

  • The electronic payment feature in CM/ECF at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico is not available for Title III cases and their adversary proceedings.
  • It is recommended that the filing fee be paid before submitting any of these filings in CM/ECF:
    • Notice of Appeal
    • Notice of Interlocutory Appeal
    • Application for Admission Pro Hac Vice
  • Filing fee for Adversary Proceedings (Civil Action) :
    • Payment of the fee is due within 24 hours of the filing.
    • Schedule for the Cashier at the U.S. District Court – Puerto Rico as of June 1, 2021:  Mondays to Fridays from 8:30AM to 12:00PM and 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM.
    • Payment must be accompanied by a complete copy of the document bearing the Adversary Proceeding case number and the Judge's initials.
  • Filing fee payments shall be guided by the District Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule.
  • CM/ECF allows the filer to complete the filing transaction without including the payment information (receipt number).
    • Please be advised that payment of the fee is due within 24 hours of the filing.
    • Failure to submit payment could result in the following:
      • The denial of the motion, or
      • The issuance of a Notice of Defective Pleading,
      • and/or the eventual dismissal of the adversary proceeding.

  • Payments exceeding the amount of $1,000.00 shall be effected via a cashier’s check.
Credit Card

  • Credit card payments must be made in person with a valid photo identification.
  • It is recommended to call in advance the Clerk’s Office of the U.S. District Court for the District at 787-772-3000 to confirm the availability of the credit card service.
